Land of the white, home of the bigoted...

In these short eight months since Donald Trump was inaugurated as President of the United States (and before during campaign season), it's felt like a lifetime of walking backward on progress and all of the things that truly make America great.

  • We've witnessed Trump's countless twitter rants, hysterics and emotional breakdowns
  • We've watched as Trump has stacked a cabinet chock full of white supremacists and millionaires, while at the same time excusing those in the position to expose his wrongdoings
  • We've heard Trump continually answer every accusation and inquiry with: "but Hillary....",
  • We've watched as Trump maliciously continues to create a false sense of distrust in the media in order to let his fraudulent and conflicting business deals and policies go unchallenged and unquestioned by his base
  • We've heard him assert a full-fledged lie regarding former President Obama and wiretapping
  • We were horrified to observe his Muslim ban (yes, he clarified more than once it was a ban) on "dangerous nations" ....excluding the most dangerous nations
  • We've heard his compliments and ass-kissing remarks regarding Vladmir Putin
  • We've listened as he silently refused to acknowledge LGTBQ+ month and has put in motion the withdrawal of our transgender troops
  • We've seen him threaten North Korea via Twitter, lie about his inauguration crowd size, mock a disabled reported on TV, boast on hot mic about sexually assaulting women, spend $65 million of taxpayer money to fund his golf outings, use Hurricane Harvey as a PR stunt to push his MAGA hats, stir up fear-mongering rhetoric, promise a wall would be built at Mexico's bill (just kidding), and flat out refuse to truly denounce white supremacy and violence.

I mean, I think it's safe to safe he's a pretty epic pile of shit.

And in the latest on ways your president is absolutely fucking up the entire thread of America, it's becoming more and more likely that Trump will end DACA (after a six-month delay, reported by Politico).

IF YOU ARE NOT A SUPPORTER OF DACA, YOU ARE NOT A PATRIOT. YOU ARE NOT WHAT AMERICA EMBRACES AND EMBODIES.

What is DACA?

DACA is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
 It is an American immigration policy founded by the Obama administration in June 2012. DACA allows certain illegal immigrants who entered the country as minors, to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit.

The average DACA recipient is 26 & came to US at age 6.

91% DACA recipients are employed

WHO is eligible for DACA?
Those who...
  • are under 31 years of age as of June 15, 2012;
  • came to the U.S. while under the age of 16;
  • have continuously resided in the U.S. from June 15, 2007 to the present;
  • entered the U.S. without inspection before June 15, 2012, or individuals whose lawful immigration status expired as of June 15, 2012;
  • were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making the request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;
  • are currently in school, have graduated from high school, have obtained a GED, or have been honorably discharged from the Coast Guard or armed forces

LET'S TALK ABOUT DACA recipients:

  • DACA basically acts as a worker's permit. DACA recipients do not qualify for federal aid (FAFSA/Pell grants/student loans) and it is not a free ride to college.
  • DACA is NOT  a path to citizenship (and I'd suggest you do your homework on the limited paths to becoming a citizen).  DACA basically acts as temporary relief, and DACA recipients must re-file every two years.
  • DACA recipients go through a rigorous background check process for consideration
  • DACA recipients pay TAXES and pay into social security, but will not ever receive SS
  • DACA recipients pay $500  to file as such, every two years, currently nearly 800,000 DACA ($400,000,000 TO THE U.S.)
  • Research shows that DACA beneficiaries would contribute $460B to the US gross domestic product over the next decade.

IF DACA IS ENDED:

#DREAMERS will lose their work permits, their driver's license will expire, they'll lose their jobs, and they lose protection from being deported.

HOW DREAMERS POSITIVELY AFFECT OUR ECONOMY:

"A study conducted this year by the American Action Forum, a center-right policy group, estimates that deporting 11 million illegal immigrants would cost between $400 billion and $600 billion.

Usurping 6.8 million illegal immigrant workers from the American economy would cause immediate uncertainty and shortage of labor for potentially millions of small businesses. Firms will be forced to raise prices or allocate more resources to refilling their pool of workers.

Repealing the action would also deprive public universities of millions of dollars in tuition paid by the nearly 50 percent of deferred action beneficiaries enrolled in college. Trump knows that’s a bad deal for the government, the economy, and future employers."
