COVID-19 aka Coronavirus

I'm receiving a lot of questions about how you can help, where you can find help and where you can find information about how our County is handling COVID-19.  Here we go:

For the official County of Ventura COVID-19 dedicated Facebook Group, CLICK HERE.
For the County's official information source, VC EMERGENCY, CLICK HERE.
For the City of Thousand Oaks' services, CLICK HERE.

To view the County's Official Health Officer Order, CLICK HERE.

Support our Local Businesses

Picture
  • ORDER TO-GO — Our local businesses are suffering debilitating loss. Some of them will not survive the impact of the loss of business and mandatory closures for dining-in opportunities. Please, please, please order food to-go from them if it's within your budget to do so. Please purchase gift cards from them. If you're financially able to do so, add an extra tip on that to-go order when you pick up.

In addition to the Chamber's list, read my post HERE for more options of local businesses to support.

  • CONTINUE PAYING — For some of us, services or classes we subscribe to are already what we consider a "sunk cost." They're already built into your budget. For example, maybe you pay monthly for a gym membership or an art class. Maybe you can afford to continue supporting that business as they work to provide you with an alternative form of service in the meantime. We want these businesses to come back. We want the services they offer to be available on the other side of things. We want these people, who own these businesses, and their employees, to be able to put food on their tables and keep a roof over their heads.

Need Help? Want to Help?

The list of organizations below are open — open to support families in need, and also  in need of additional donations and support.

Conejo Community Outreach — CCO supports families in the County with a monthly supplemental package of diapers and wipes. In addition to their regular orders, they are working to support additional families impacted by COVID-19 and intend to operate throughout COVID-19 as long as they have resources to provide.

Conejo Senior Volunteer Program — While the Goebel Center is closed, the Senior Nutrition Lunch Program option will be available for Pick-Up & Drive-Thru beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18. Monday-Friday from 11:30am-1:30 p.m. This Program is for seniors age 60+ and contains a hot meal, veggies, salad, fruit, and milk.  They will take all proper safety precautions while handing out the lunches.
Manna Conejo Valley — For those in need of additional food support, Manna allows access to their pantry every 28 days. Visit their website to see what you need to bring to qualify, or how to donate pantry items.

Harbor House — Harbor House will be providing sack lunches to those in our community experiencing homelessness and who generally depend on the the meal and shelter program that has been temporarily halted as a result of COVID-19. Financial donations will help them secure lodging for their clients, or you can sign up to provide meals.

FOODShare — FOODShare is a Ventura-based food bank that serves thousands in the County of Ventura. They are ramping up their efforts to get food into the hands of our most food-insecure residents. They need donations immediately, and volunteers.

James Storehouse  — James Storehouse supports our foster community. Please see their needs for donations on their Facebook page. They too, need diapers, wipes and formula.

Senior Concerns — Senior Concerns is seeking volunteers for a new Emergency Wrap Around Services for Homebound Seniors program in response to COVID-19 and the recommendation that those age 65+ self-isolate at home.
