UPDATE: I have been locked out of my Facebook page (both personal and blog page). I have to assume that a supporter of Mike Dunn's reported my page. I cannot respond to anything on Facebook currently. I'M BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT! Sounds like there was actually a glitch? What random timing.... This morning started out like any other morning for a new mom, I suppose. I was trying to catch my last few minutes of sleep before I needed to get up and pump, and then get AB ready for school, and you know, wash bottles, etc.
Then, I received a text from my bosses telling me I should check my email when I have a chance, and to be sitting down for it. Let me tell you what I read this morning. You might want to be sitting down too. Mike Dunn, CVUSD board trustee and former board president, emailed my employer, insinuated that I have been slandering him, as well as the school board and district, and that, in retaliation, should I continue, he will respond by informing people of my place of employment, while asserting that they support my political views. SO, TO BE CLEAR: A publicly elected school board trustee, emailed and threatened a constituent's employer, that if this constituent does not silence herself, he will retaliate against the company, and indirectly retaliate against the constituent in doing so. Mike Dunn has literally put IN WRITING that he is attempting to censor me for having concern about potential censorship in our curriculum's literature. Let that sink in. The fact that a publicly elected school board trustee would seek retaliation against a parent and taxpayer in this community, because we do not agree politically, is so outrageous I don't even know where to begin unpacking that email. Mr. Dunn, you are a day late and a dollar short. Attached is a screenshot of the email he sent my work, and the badass response from my boss. I couldn't be more grateful that even though by bosses don't agree with me all on all political issues, they support free speech. I will be reviewing legal options. Are you ready to be #donewithDunn yet?

I'm on this like white on rice. I will be posting viable options to the Pantsuit Nation Ventura County page on FB. However, sharing this helps. The Blue Wave will help. Getting people to vote and educating them on who is on the ballot and why instead of just coloring in a box next to a name of someone who had a 'cute campaign sign' or who your sitter-stylist-mechanic-neighbor voted for. We all are responsible. It's easy to complain, it's hard to actually get in there and make the change. But it's so fucking worth it. I'm so embarrassed to say I live here at this moment. But the sad thing is? Only my other educated (meaning they read things other than Fox anything) friends feel the same way, I can't crack the white-crazy yet. XO
